Biblical Studies

The School of Divinity of the University of St Andrews is one of the internationally leading centres of research and study in Biblical Studies.

St Mary’s College has been the home of Divinity here since 1538. Surrounded by the beauty of the medieval town of St Andrews on the edge of the North Sea, the College is both central to the history of theology in Scotland, and ‘a place apart’ where scholars, senior and junior, come together from all over the world to reflect on and carry forward the tradition of the study of the Bible. The school of Divinity enjoys an international reputation of excellence in the quality of both its research and teaching. Theology and religious studies at St Andrews was recently ranked first in Scotland and second in the UK by the Guardian University Guide 2020 with the highest student satisfaction ratings in the UK.
