Research Topic
Royal Ideology and Jewish Law in the Gospel of John
Supervised by Dr. T. J. Lang and Dr. Madhavi Nevader

The main aim of Paulus’ research project is to investigate the relation between Jesus and the Law in the Gospel of John in light of ancient royal ideologies, and particularly traditions of kingly lawgivers.

Other Information
Some areas of academic interest are the reuse of the Jewish scriptures in the New Testament, biblical themes such as kingship and law, and Johannine literature in general. Outside the academy, Paulus and his wife Tiny serve, respectively, as staff team leader and children’s worker at the St Andrews Baptist Church—hence Paulus’ special interest in Baptist history and theology. Other than that, he enjoys a good game of football, making music, traveling, and learning new languages.
